It is a good idea to go to your local automotive parts store and ask if they have diagrams regarding the braking system and how it works. Do not attempt to fix the lines or the fluid leak if you have not done your proper homework. Once you have reviewed material and spoke to different people, you can use the following directions as your guide to fixing your Launch X431 IDiag.
Step 1: Know Your Limits
First and foremost, you must know your limits. If you do not understand the components to your car, or if you are not intimately familiar with braking fluid and the requirements thereof, you must first either spend some time familiarizing yourself with these sections of the car or pull out your user manual and spend time studying. You should know that fixing the braking fluid in a car is not done through a quick fix. Many companies promote a quick fix brake fluid formula and it has been proven time and time again that these formulas do not help.
Step 2: Use a Rebuild Kit
Check your master cylinder. If it is showing signs of wear and tear or even leaking, you will need to go to your automotive parts store and purchase a rebuild kit. Pull the directions out of the rebuild kit and follow the directions. It will direct and show you how to take off a master cylinder and add a new one.
Step 3: Add New Brake Hoses
Take a look at the brake hoses. If they are leaking, you will need to make a trip to your automotive parts store and purchase a new set of brake hoses. Replace the old hoses with the new hoses.
Step 4: Add Metal Tubing and Pipe Bender. If it is only the brake lines showing signs of leaking, you can easily fix the leak with metal tubing and pipe bender. Essentially, you will purchase these parts at your local automotive parts store. You will need to pull out your user manual for your car and walk through it step by step in order to effectively fix your brake fluid lines. This is not a simple task. Enlist the help of a friend or someone that is in the know when it comes to automobiles.
Step 5: Fix the Caliper Piston
Purchase a new caliper at the automotive parts store and follow the directions inserted with the new caliper. Use these directions along with the information contained in your manual about your car. Again, if you are unsure, do not change the new calipers. It can harm your car.
